Chair statement:

2023-2024 season.

This season has been a fantastic season and the club has gone from strength to strength. This year saw a full compliment of teams from mini kickers to under 15s. We also completed our tie with AFC St Austell and are now in a joint partnership as official youth partners with AFC St Austell meaning we have a fantastic offering to children in the area for football from age 4 to adults football and beyond. We will always have our own facilities and run as separate clubs but the link up means we have access to other facilities, can be involved with more events and have opportunities for children through to adulthood. We invested in our coaches this season with more courses and qualifications offered and have also continued to improve the grounds, facilities and our events. This year we hosted more events than before so a huge thank you to our fundraising heroes for their hard work and to the wider Tregorrick family for supporting these events. This allowed us to invest in tournament goals which saved endless rolls of gaffer tape, hours of work and all of our sanity. The year hasn’t been without it’s frustrations as we had to make some difficult decisions and its felt like we have waited all season for funding for a new mower - I am assured we are a matter of weeks away now from receiving fundraising so I hope to have some news soon but I am still so pleased that the majority of the work to secure this funding was done within last season so it’s still a good news story to share.

Right at the end of the season we had our first ever girls team join Tregorrick and have been getting numbers at mini kickers of over 20 week on week which is incredible.

Finance statement:

In 2022/2023 season we made a loss of £1500

In 2023/2024 season we made a loss of £1300, however we invested £2427.92 in tournament goals which if we hadn’t we would have made £1048.23 profit which is a huge improvement from pervious years

It cost £13156.84 to open the doors last season to the club before we do anything or invest in anything but last year we only took £10003.43 in subs which is why we are so keen on fundraising. This year we are due to make a minium of £12500 in subs and we are looking to save money on electric and mower fuel so we should break even meaning we can invest in our grounds once more. We have good operating funds in the banks and have secured the future of the club for many years to come.

Highlights this year include:

Bingo evening in March making just shy of £1500 profit - used to buy tournament goals.

The 2023 tournament made £8750 profit.

We gained 3 teams at the start of the year - Pirates, Cobras and Tigers

Bag packing event at Tesco.

Lots of teams attending AFC St Austell for a mascot day.

New girls team and Steve on board at the end of this year.

And I believe all committee staying in place for one more year - unless this meeting goes really badly!

Lowlights:

We have lost the Tornados and Eagles as well as some fantastic coaches from these teams. Huge thanks to Lea Copper, Matt Bird, Phil Hutchings (although I am not letting Phil leave just yet), Adam Howes and Matt Hyland - they’d all coached at Tregorrick for a number of years and will be missed.

The weather - must have been the wettest season ever but we had more games on than ever before and managed very well.

Looking at the season ahead:

Oldest age group is now under 14s which isn’t ideal.

Mini kickers is going from strength to strength with almost 30 members- they have an event coming up on Saturday which should be great fun!

Under 7s team will join the league in January to give a smooth transition and we already have a under 7 coach for next September ready too.

Events for the year - casino night, bingo, wreath making, tournament and bag packing.

Investment for the year - training equipment, coaches and grounds tops, new drills/mixers, general maintenance and repairs.

New mower funding.

New containers.

Tea hut upgrade - new name and sign. Cake sale fundraiser or bacon rolls.

Advertising boards.

Just before we move on to discuss the new season in more detail I just wanted to confirm that this will be my last season at Tregorrick. Since joining Tregorrick as a parent over 10 years ago and then becoming part of the committee almost 5 years ago (it’s amazing what Covid lockdown will make you do) and then finally becoming chair back in 2022 I have loved being part of this fantastic club. While I spend this year handing over roles and responsibilities I want to thank everyone for the support and making me feel very welcome - Tregorrick has been a huge chapter of my life and I am so proud of some of the achievements I’ve been part of. I will still continue to work hard this year and I want to give plenty of notice of my departure by standing down in hopefully a positive way. I hope all the committee members, supporters, coaches and wider Tregorrick family will join me on this season’s adventures -lets make it a year to remember!!

Thank you

Polly x

Open discussion for 2024/2025 season:

Better Girls facilities - now that we have a girls’ team at Tregorrick we do need to look at the facilities and see how they can be improved.

Tournament date - aiming for 28th\29th June please shout if anyone notices an issue with this date.

Improve communication - monthly blog post on the website and more information presented to parents. Team reps one parent per team to improve communication.

Focus on improving the tea hut Tea hut - decor, names and logo - community job.

Sarah Adams has offered to look into our charity statuts or CIC and get advice.

Events agreed for this year - wreath making evening (1st December), Casino night (Feb), Easter Bingo (March/April), Tournament (28th/29th June), Bag packing at the supermarket.

If fundraising goes well we will pledge to fund winter training in 2025/2026, however this does cost over £8K so need lots of help and engagement in whole club fundraising to make this happen.

If you would like to be your teams’ representative or you have any ideas please do not hesitate to contact us!
